Another week in the great California San Diego mission
hahah really though awesome things happened this week!!
On Thursday night Sister Hanson and I were able to have a church tour
with a family of investigators we are currently teaching. We were full
of joy to see their three young girls dance around the church singing
"soy un hijo de Dios." The branch has helped us so well with
fellowshipping. Last night we had a sweet lesson with them and talked
about the plan of salvation. The husband understood everything so well
and it was so awesome to see him explaining to his wife that God knows
the reason for everything and has it all under control. They are
excited to come to church and prepare for baptism! Wahooooo
On Friday I was able to spend the day in city heights! I almost felt
like I was back in Chula Vista there were so many people out on the
street speaking Spanish and they all wanted to listen to us. I was
with sister summers she's super cool hahaha they live in the ghetto
though so a little sketchy but just walk like you have a purpose and
all is good.
On Sunday when we finished our meetings a member of the branch
presidency introduced us to a woman by the name of Amy, he said that
she was going through a really hard time and that she needed a
message. We entered the room and began the conversation getting to
know her a little better. She moved her from Africa and has six
children. She recently became a single mother and has the dream of
becoming a nurse. She seemed to be really discouraged however we were
able to share some scriptures with her and testify of the faith and
hope that Christ gives each of us. She said a prayer at the end of the
lesson and then in tears looked up at us and said that she felt like
everything has been lifted off her shoulders. The spirit was very
strong and it was a miracle! We had to pass her off to the English
elders but it was a cool experience to see someone just led to the
church.
This week I read a talk called "the tongue of angels" that I really
loved. And it had a quote that says "no misfortune is so bad that
whining about it won’t make it worse."
-Elder Holland
I thought that was funny but so true- whining doesn't make anything
better we just gotta smile and be positive and trust in God and life
will be good.
I love you all!!!! Thanks for the birthday wishes. Here I go into the
20s ah way too old.
Have the best week!!!
