El Niño has hit!!! Hahaha for months everyone has been talking about a
huge ran storm called El Niño and then finally this week we had like
flash floods and so so much rain for like three or four days in a row
it was crazy! They said we have a break for a couple days and then
it's going to come back haha so we will see how that goes, we got our
umbrellas ready!
Last Thursday we went back to Poway to help the sisters because one of
them was sick and so I ended up being the nurse for a couple hours
haha I thought I was going to be babysitting and taking care of her or
something but wow that sister is amazing. Her name is sister cable and
the only thing that had stayed down for the last like five days was
three crackers and she had been to the ER twice but wow she was
happier then ever. I was amazed at the positivity and faith of this
sister. She was such a Christlike example to me that even though she
was going through a difficult medical challenge (not to mention that
she's only been in the mission field for 3 weeks) she was beaming and
still looking for ways she could serve and love others.
It made me reflect on the importance of optimism, of choosing to be
happy because really it's all up to us! When I was asking this sister
how she was so happy she was like "well I already feel gross from
being sick so being miserable would just make it even worse, so I just
put a smile on my face and choose to be happy"
It's up to us! Are we going to complain, get offended, look at the
negative side of things and make ourselves miserable or are we going
to fill ourselves with light and joy?
I love this scripture that I found this week
"This is the day which the Lord hath made, we will rejoice and be glad in it."
-Psalms 118:24
Each day is a gift from God and He wants us to be happy and enjoy every moment!
President Nelson said,
"As you follow Jesus Christ you will find sustaining peace and TRUE joy."
Our joy comes from the knowledge we have of our Heavenly Father, His
plan for us- His son Jesus Christ and the restored gospel! We have so
many reasons to smile!!!
I love you all!!!
